Potential consulting firms make their pitch for Harbor Point Development

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The new Holiday Inn Express at north Utica's Harbor Point is just the start of development.

On Thursday, the Harbor Point Local Development Corporation Board held their second set of interviews for a planning consultant team. Each firm presented their own plan for the area, combining what will be there and how it could be laid out.

"I think all the planning consultants bring something different, and it's up to the board to filter through those and pick the right consultant for the planning effort," said Brian Thomas, Commissioner of Urban and Economic Development for the City of Utica.

The board expects to have a plan from the chosen consultant in place this summer and the city will then seek a private developer for the land.
