Pregnant woman injured in Utica motor vehicle accident

Update: Vanessa Cruzado, the passenger in the car that was hit has told NewsChannel2 that the female driver is 8 months pregnant. She also said that she has been transported to a Syracuse hospital for further treatment, and that her current condition is unknown.

Utica Police has not confirmed this information at this time, as the investigation is ongoing. However, we will provide more information as it becomes released.

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A motor vehicle accident in Utica leaves a pregnant woman with minor injuries.

According to Utica Police, Adela Mehanovic was driving north on Kossuth, passed a flashing red light and struck the second vehicle driven by Ozlem Konkur.

City police and fire personnel responded shortly after 5pm to the intersection of Eagle St., and Kossuth Ave.

An occupant in one of the vehicles reportedly is pregnant and suffered a head laceration. She was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by fire fighters.

Mehanovic and her passenger,  were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Mehanovic was issued a summons for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
