RCIL packed Tuesday with last-minute tax filers

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - For those who waited until the last-minute to file taxes, the pressure is building.

The RCIL building was packed Tuesday with people getting free tax assistance and trying to file before the post office closes.

If you don't think you can make the deadline, local tax preparers have some advice.

"They can apply for extensions online or go to the local IRS building and try to apply for an extension through there," said Danny McLain, Mohawk Valley Asset Building Coalition coordinator. "Not everyone owes money. This is when we get the smaller refunds. People with the smaller businesses who know they're going to owe some money, but not everyone owes money."

The tax preparers are RCIL are booked solid for Tuesday so they suggest finding another preparer or going ahead and filing an extension to give yourself more time.
