Railroad tracks along arterial to be repurposed

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Crews are tearing up the railroad tracks that run parallel to the highway in Utica to make room for the road expansion.

The Adirondack Scenic Railroad and Department of Transportation workers were out Friday reclaiming about 2,500 feet of track.

All of the material is recyclable, so instead of throwing it away, they will be repurposed.

The tracks will be stored for now, but possibly used for a project down the road, such as a new engine house.
