UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office has issued the following traveler advisory for motorists in the City of Utica, Oneida County:
Starting Monday evening June 30, 2014 at 6:00PM the Route 12 southbound ramps to 5 S Downtown Utica and State Street will be closed to traffic between the hours of 6:00PM to 10:00PM due to the removal of steel beams.
Motorists traveling south on Route 12 who want to access Route 5S east will be directed to get off on I-790 / Route 5 east, right on to Genesee Street south, on to Broad Street east, to Route 5S east.
Motorists traveling east on Route 5A who want to access Route 8/12 north will be directed to continue on to Route 5S east, left on to John Street, to Genesee Street north, right on to I-790 west, right on to Route 8/12 north.
Signed detours will be utilized to advise motorists of the ramp closures and direct traffic to the appropriate detour routes.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
