Remsen woman accused of stealing, forging checks

(WKTV) - A Remsen woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole and forged checks, New York State Police said.

Amanda S. Ackerman, 27, of Remsen, is charged with felony grand larceny in the third degree and felony forgery in the second degree.

According to officials, Ackerman allegedly stole and forged 22 checks from a person who lives in Remsen. The checks were then cashed in Utica. The total amount stolen was about $14,800.

Ackerman is being held in the Utica Police Department lockup pending arraignment.
