Renaissance Festival a big hit in Rome

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the second straight year, the Rome Art and Community Center hosted its Renaissance Festival, and those in attendance and those taking part by acting the part loved it.

RACC Executive Director Lauren Getek says the festival is a perfect fit for the center, "People love the Renaissance, so we thought this would be the perfect formula here on our grounds, we have a great backdrop for it."

The first lady you see as you enter the gates is actually the First Lady of Rome, Mayor Joe Fusco's wife, Lori Fusco, "People kind of forget and leave everything behind when they enter the gate and take part in the festivities.  It's really fun."

Dan Kostelec played William Shakespeare "It's wonderful because you get to be playing all day long, you get to set aside being an adult and just come out and use your imagination and invite other people to come in and use their imagination, it's just one of the best things you can possibly do."

Jessica Hampe's two kids attended the summer programs at RACC this year and she and they decided to volunteer for the festival, "We are big fans of the Community Center, their arts lessons are amazing, and besides it's just a ton of fun to dress up and yell a lot."
