Repairs complete after large water main break in Utica

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Repairs are complete following a major water main break in the City of Utica that caused brown, murky water for some residents in Whitesboro.

The break occurred at the intersection of Chenango Avenue and Lomond Place on Monday in Utica, but due to the vast amount of area the pipes cover, the water for a variety of municipalities could be affected. In this case, the break was in Utica, but caused discolored water in Whitesboro.

Officials with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority says that there was no boil water advisory in place and that only the Department of Transportation Garage had been affected by the break.

The discolored water was due to a large amount of water (from the break) bring pushed through the system, officials said, but added that it has since settled down.
