By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV)- Utica fire officials say seven people were transported to area hospitals after an early morning fire at the Michael Walsh on Gray Ave. in Utica.

No word on the condition of the victims, but we're told the injuries are not expected to be critical.

Fire crews had to rescue a woman and two children from the second story of the building. They put up ladders and broke windows to get the victims out.

The fire started at 4:49 a.m.  It was under control in about an hour.

Centro buses were brought in to temporarily place residents and keep them warm.

An electrician was called in this morning. Fire officials say water was leaking from the upper floors, to the outlets in the lower floors.

The fire was contained to one apartment on the second floor, but there is smoke and water damage in other apartments.

No word yet on a cause, or exactly when residents can get back in their homes.
