Rest stop in Schuyler for cyclists biking the Erie Canal Trail

SCHUYLER, N.Y. (WKTV) - While 14,000 runners will hit the streets of the city of Utica, a group of ambitious cyclists are taking on the Erie Canal Trail.

They are biking New York State, a total of 400 miles starting in Buffalo and ending in Albany.

On Friday, the cyclists made a rest stop in Schuyler. The cyclists are all different ages and come from various parts of the country.

For Laurette Vitello, a cyclist from Rhode Island, this is her very first time taking part in the event.

"I think i've lost my mind," Vitello said. "I'm not sure. It seemed like a good idea when I signed up."

The next stop for the cyclists is Canajoharie.
