"Ride For Missing Children" memorial built at Sauquoit Middle School

SAUQUOIT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The driving force behind the Ride for Missing Children will have a permanent home at the Sauquoit Valley School District. On Thursday, the district began construction of a concrete turquoise ribbon on the Middle School grounds.

It will serve as a memorial for the Ride and for missing children everywhere. The memorial will be landscaped with pink and white flowers.

Madden says the school will be a stop along the Ride this year, which will be held on May 17.

The school plans a balloon launch, a performance from the choir and a silent tribute.

Sauquoit is significant because it is where Sara Anne Wood attended school when she went missing in 1993.
