Man arrested in connection with Lenox Avenue accident

(WKTV) - A Utica man has been charged in connection with a Tuesday morning accident that closed roads near Colombia Square.

Terrance Hines, 21, of Jay Street, is charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child, as well as violation charges of speeding and no driver's license.

According to authorities, around 8 a.m. officers responded to an accident at Whitesboro Street and Lenox Avenue. When officers are arrived, they found a 16-year-old girl lying on the ground, suffering from a cut and complaining of internal pain.

Witness described the driver and said he fled on foot. He was located on Whitesboro Street at Court Street. Officers determined the man was driving at a high-rate of speed and passed a moving car before losing control and striking a telephone pole.
