ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Rome Capitol Theatre is getting a makeover and on Thursday night they let the community in on the project by hosting a demolition ball.
Attendees dressed to impress and had the chance to wander around the theatre and check out the new venues being added. The ball included drinks, live music by local bands, The Birdseed Bandits and Last Left and a silent auction.
Kylie Pierce, the Development Director for the theatre said she hopes this revitalization keeps Romans in Rome for their entertainment, " The building we are in now is going to be multipurpose theatre space. It will have flexible seating and we'll be able to do everything from dances to cabarets to theatre in the rounds so its really a space that can do almost anything. The back building is going to have small independent cinemas."
Pierce hopes the expansion brings more people living outside of Rome into the city.
