Rome City School District passes revised budget

By WKTV News

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV)--Voters passed the budget in the Rome City School District on the second try.

The majority of residents 999, voted yes while 860 voted against the budget proposal.

In this budget a minimum of 40 employees who got layoff notices will be restored. It will reduce the number of teachers laid off from 56 to 16.

Tax-payers will see a 2.5-percent tax hike, which stays within the tax cap of 2.55.

The budget stays within the cap, therefore there was no need for a super-majority, or 60 percent of "yes" voters.
