Small fire extinguished at Rome's Revere Copper plant

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Rome Fire Department extinguished a small fire at Revere Copper, Sunday.

At just after 3 p.m., the Rome Fire Department was called to the scene after some guards making their rounds noticed smoke billowing out from the cast shop.

Officials said that the fire was caused when wood underneath the furnace in the shop overheated and burst into flames.

The furnace, which burns at 1700°F, burned the wood underneath, however, it was a relatively small fire and crews were able to put it out within an hour.

No injuries were reported.
