Rome Lab, DFAS union endorse Hanna

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - About 1,700 union workers at Rome Lab and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Rome have thrown their support behind U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna in an announcement Monday outside Griffiss Institute.

The head of the American Federation of Government Employees at DFAS says Hanna went to bat for them a few months ago when they feared DFAS might lose 600 jobs.

"I think without his intercession, we might have lost a number of jobs at DFAS," said Ed Abounader, union president. "And I think that requires us to support someone who supported us."

Hanna's opponent in the upcoming primary, Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, says that this is nothing new, as incumbents typically get the endorsements. Tenney adds that on Sunday, she met with a DFAS employee about job retention and growth.
