Rome hero cop given key to the city

ROME, NY (WKTV) - The hero cop from the AT&T shooting received the key to the City of Rome Wednesday.

The honor was bestowed upon Rome Police Officer Donald Moore at the first annual Rome Police Department's Law Enforcement Day at Franklyn Field.

Officer Moore shot and killed the disgruntled AT&T customer who shot one store employee and had a hit list with several names on it.

Rome Mayor James Brown says he couldn't possibly be more proud of Officer Moore.

"The first thing I said to the group of people here was, 'do you believe in miracles?' Brown said. "Because it was a miracle that Officer Moore was there that day at the AT&T store."

Moore is only the third recipient of the key to the City of Rome. The first key was posthumously awarded to restaurateur Chris Destito.
