Rome man accused of having heroin, counterfeit cash

(WKTV) - A Rome man faces felony charges after a search warrant uncovered heroin and counterfeit cash, Rome Police said.

Larry J. Santiago Jr., 33, who uses the street name "Joe Ell," is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and felony criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree.

According to officials, shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, members of the Rome Police Department Detective/S.I.U. Division, Patrol Division and Oneida County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in the 400 block of East Bloomfield Street.

During the raid, officers said heroin, packaging materials and cash -- some of which was counterfeit -- was seized.

Santiago is being held in Rome Police lock-up.
