Rome man accused of stealing jewels, valuables from residence

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man has been charged after allegedly stealing jewelry and other valuables from a residence.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, on August 16 at roughly 10 p.m., Deputies responded to a burglary in progress complaint at the Delta Lake Inn on Fish Hatchery Road in the City of Rome.

When they arrived on scene, Deputies say they detained Richard John Stropp IV, 50, of Rome as he was trying to flee.

Authorities say that their investigation revealed Stropp IV had earlier unlawfully entered a residence on Teugega Point Road and stole jewelry and other valuables from within.

He was charged with second-degree burglary and arraigned in the City of Rome Court.
