Rome man charged following domestic dispute in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man has been charged with assault and robbery, among other charges after officers responded to a domestic dispute in New Hartford.

According to New Hartford Police, at around 11 p.m. on July 4, officers were called to Hillside Garden Apartments on Oxford Road for a reported physical domestic dispute. According to police, a female victim reported that she had been assaulted and that her phone was stolen by Chad W. Underwood, whom she was familiar with. The female was treated by Edwards Ambulance and transported to St Luke's Hospital for treatment of numerous, non-life threatening injuries.

On July 6, police arrested Chad W. Underwood, 22, of Rome his Cherry Street residence and charged him with second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, along with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. Underwood was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

He due back in court at a later date.
