(WKTV) - A Rome man faces a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a child in 2012, the Oneida County District Attorney's Office said.

Joshua Castello, 33, of Rome, is charged with manslaughter after his arrest Thursday on a warrant issued by the Oneida County Grand Jury.

According to assistant district attorney Dawn Lupi, the charges are the result of an alleged assault on a child in 2003. The girl died at the age of 9 in 2012.

Castello was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on March 14.
