Rome man mulls over plea deal in connection to roommate's death

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man is accused of acting negligently and assaulting his 53-year-old roommate back in March, and subsequently causing his death.

Nathaniel Ephriam is accused of assaulting Freddie Knight at the West Thomas Street apartment the two shared.

Knight died two days after the assault at University Hospital in Syracuse.

The Oneida County District Attorney's office extended a plea offer Thursday to Ephraim.

He's due back in court on September 27th to decide whether to take the plea, or reject it and go to trial.
