Rome man seriously injured in motorcycle accident in Verona

VERONA, N.Y. (WK TV) - The Oneida County Sheriff's Department is investigating a serious motorcycle accident that happened on State Route 46 in Verona.

Deputies say Jeremiah G. Cullen, 31, of Rome was operating his 2007 Harley Davidson heading east on State Route 46, near Lock Rd.

They say Cullen attempted to pass an uninvolved vehicle as well as a GMC Canyon driven by Chad Rider, 38, of Verona.

Rider, deputies say, was attempting to make a left turn into a driveway.

Cullen hit the back of Rider's vehicle, was ejected from the bike, and thrown first into a guide wire, then into a body of water.

He was transported by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

No word yet on his condition, but he suffered multiple injuries.

The accident happened at 5:11 p.m. on Saturday, May 31st.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Verona Fire Department and AMCARE ambulance. Investigation to continue.
