Rome woman accused of murder for hire plot

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome woman has been charged after police say she attempted to hire someone to kill her estranged husband.

According to Rome Police, Angela R. Tefft, 28, of Rome, was charged with second-degree criminal solicitation.

Police say Tefft was arrested after exchanging a sum of money to another person to have her estranged husband killed. The investigation was initiated after Rome Police received tips that Tefft was actively trying to find someone to kill him in exchange for money.

Tefft was arraigned in Rome City Court and is being held in the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Members of the Rome Police Department Detective Division conducted the investigation.
