Rome woman injured in accident

A Rome woman was injured in a Thursday evening accident in Whitestown, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department.

According to officials, Mary Puffer, 56, of Rome, was traveling eastbound on Sutliff Road when her vehicle went off the road. She struck a ditch on the north side of the road and the vehicle went airborne before stopping.

Puffer suffered facial injuries and was transported by ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for evaluation. She was cited for failure to maintain her lane.

The Oriskany Fire Department assisted on the scene.
