Runners lace up for annual "Pit Run"
ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Nearly 1,000 runners and walkers spent Sunday in Oneonta, running in honor of a fallen New York State Trooper.
The annual 'Pit Run' raises money for scholarships in the name of Officer Ricky "Pit" Parisian. Parisian was killed in the line of duty 16 years ago.
Parisian was grocery shopping with his wife when he attempted to stop an armed robbery. After making sure that customers were safe, he confronted the robber who shot him in the chest.
Parisian died, but not after pulling off the robbers mask so he could be identified and caught.
