SU Chancellor Cantor will leave in 2014

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor says she will leave when her current contract ends in 2014.

Cantor informed the Board of Trustees on Friday that she will leave after a decade leading the school as its 11th chancellor and president.

The school was in turmoil a year ago after assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine was accused of molesting two former ball boys. Fine, who has denied the accusations, was fired. A federal investigation continues.

When the allegations were made public, Cantor warned against rushing to judgment. When a third accuser came forward 10 days later, Fine was fired.

Before her appointment at Syracuse, Cantor was chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Michigan.
