SUNYIT holds annual commencement ceremony
MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - College graduation season is upon us and first up locally was SUNY Institute of Technology in Marcy. More than 350 students in their caps and gowns took part in the 39th annual ceremony. Students heard from U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer and a keynote address from New York State Commissioner and former Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito. President Wolf Yeigh presided over the ceremony and said, "This is the culmination of all the hard work that our students, faculty, staff have all been working towards. This is sort of the capstone event that's going to send them off to work place, graduate schools. It's a huge celebration for all of us." Yeigh also announced to students the largest-ever donation to SUNYIT of $500,000, given by alum Dr. Theodore Max and his wife. The money will go to supporting students of STEM, or science, technology, engineering and math.
