Healthy option for children before Halloween: Boolermaker Kids' Run

The first ever Boolermaker Kids Run is taking place Saturday, Oct. 26, but registration is mandatory before the actual run. Children can register Friday from 3pm - 7pm at Sangertown Square Mall.

Registration is only $5, and with registration, children will get a goodie bag, perfect size for trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Only the first 1,200 children from the ages of 4-12 years old will be able to participate in the run.

The theme of the run is "Where getting fit isn't scary."

The goodie bag is not filled with candy, it's filled with healthy options like a water bottle, toothpaste, dental floss, Chobani yogurt, and a breakfast bar.

The run will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Masonic Care Community, 2150 Bleecker St, Utica, NY

Activities will start at 8:00 AM. Some of the activities offered include; face painting/ temporary tattoos, fingerprinting, photo booth, Shriner clowns, Zoomobile, musical entertainment, fitness activity area, and health education.
The runs will start at:
10:00 am: ¼ mile run 4-6 year old, special needs
10:15 am: ½ mile run 7-8 year old
10:30 am: ¾ mile run 9-10 year old
10:45 am: 1 mile run 11-12 year old

Run times (approximate depending on amount of heats) Runners should be at the start line 10 minutes prior to the run. For safety reasons if running in costume use common sense.

Outfits that pose a tripping hazard, masks that cover the face, weaponry, etc. are all highly discouraged. No strollers, wheelies, in-line skates or pets.

The goodie bags are in the tented area at the end of the race.
