Sailboat crashes through car

WEBB, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two people are lucky to be alive after authorities say a sailboat took off the roof of their vehicle.

The accident happened on State Route 28 in the Town of Webb at around 4:30 p.m.

Town of Webb police chief John Russell said that Liverpool resident James Blasland was heading in one direction on Route 28 when the sailboat and trailer on his car detached and flew toward a car driving in the opposite direction.

The sailboat sheered off the top of the car's roof.

The two passengers in that car were hospitalized for minor injuries and Blasland was ticketed for an unsecure load.
