Sauquoit man charged with menacing woman with knife

(WKTV) - A Sauquoit man faces charges after he allegedly threatened a woman with a knife and stole property from her, New York State Police said.

William F. Smith, 26, of Griffiths Place in Sauquoit, is charged with felony grand larceny in the fourth degree and misdemeanor charges of menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and two counts of criminal mischief.

According to officials, on Jan. 1, Smith allegedly menaced a woman with a knife as part of a domestic dispute. He is also accused of damaging her cell phone to prevent her from calling authorities and stealing more than $1,000 in property from her.

Smith was sent to the Oneida County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
