Sauquoit man injured in snowmobile crash

PARIS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Sauquoit man was injured in a snowmobile accident, late Saturday night.

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, Christopher Tibbitts, 25, was operating his 2012 Polaris snowmobile west on trail C-7 between Mohawk Street and State Route 8, when he traveled straight through a curve in the trail, and went off-trail coming to rest in a creek bed.

Tibbitts was reportedly ejected from his vehicle, as the snowmobile was submerged in water, but was able to walk to a nearby residence where he received assistance calling 911.

He complained of chest pain, and was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for treatment, before being released with no significant injuries.

Tibbetts was issued a ticked for operating his snowmobile at an imprudent speed, under the NYS Parks and Recreation Law.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Paris Court next month to answer the charge.
