Sauquoit man, on-duty New Hartford Police officer injured in crash

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two people were hurt in crash early Friday morning along Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford. Police say around 12:15 am, a pick-up truck, driven by 22-year-old Frank Caramadre, IV of Sauquoit, turned into the path of a patrol car.

Patrick Sacco, 28, was on routine patrol and as heading west on Seneca Turnpike when Caramadre turned into his path attempting to make a left turn into the driveway of the Valley Brook Lounge.

Sacco, we're told attempted to swerve and brake, but was unable to avoid a collision.

Both were treated and released at area hospitals.

Calamadre faces DWI charges.

He's also charged with failure to yield the right of way when turning left, and for driving without proof of insurance.

He'll be back in court October 30th.
