OHIO, N.Y. (WKTV) - A former school bus driver accused of sexually abusing a minor faced serious charges in the Town of Ohio Court Tuesday night.
Michael Newland Sr. used to be a school bus driver for the Holland Patent Central School District, now he's a man accused of sexually abusing a minor, and helping to facilitate a sexual relationship between his son Michael Newman Jr., and an entirely different underaged student.
Newland Sr. was arraigned on two charges Tuesday, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse in the 3rd degree, both are misdemeanor charges. Michael Newland Sr., 44, pleaded not guilty to both of those charges.
These charges stem from an alleged incident that happened in 2009 where Newland had sexual contact with a minor.
According to Judge Mary Greene the case has been adjourned to Tuesday November 30th at 7 p.m.
Attorney William Borrill is representing Newland and Herkimer County Assistant District Attorney James Franchi will be the prosecutor in this case.
Newland Sr. is also answering to other misdemeanor allegations in Oneida County, where he's accused of facilitating a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student on his bus, and his 23-year-old son.
Newland Sr. is due in Trenton Town Court Tuesday December 7th.
