SCHUYLER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Memorial Day festivities began early for Schuyler Volunteer Fire Company, as they honored and remembered their local fallen comrade's on Sunday at the firehouse on Newport Road.

The volunteer fire company and the Schuyler VFW were involved in the festivities.
They read the names of all deceased Schuyler veterans and Schuyler Volunteer Fire Company members from the time the department began until today.
The public was welcome and enjoyed cookies and punch.
Ethan Geary, the Chaplain of Schuyler volunteer fire company says the benefits of being  a fire fighter far outweigh any challenges he faces, "It's a brotherhood to be volunteer fire fighter. We stick together. It just embodies what it means to be in brotherhood."
Each year the VFW and Schuyler Volunteer Fire Company alternate locations for the event.
