(WKTV) - They're competitive, experienced and seasoned athletes.

And the oldest one competing for a medal Wednesday is 102 years old.

The 34th Annual Senior Olympics took place today at the Masonic Care Community. Athletes from more than a dozen local assisted living centers and nursing homes took part in events such as golf, ring toss and horseshoes. There was also a torch lighting and opening ceremony.

The woman who started it all says the participants love the competition, and the games show they still have a lot to bring to the table, the links and the basketball court.

Individuals won medals on Wednesday, as well as facilities, based on the number of wins of their athletes.
