Church parishioner seriously injured following West Utica accident


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A church elder is listed in serious condition after being ejected in a two-vehicle crash in West Utica Sunday afternoon.

According to a NEWSChannel 2 crew on the scene, a van from the Asamblea De Iglesias Cristianas Church on John Street in Utica was involved. Three of the six passengers were hospitalized, including the one who was ejected.

Church officials identify the man as Sixto Quiles, a church elder.

The van was traveling east on Court Street toward the Arterial.

The car that hit the van had one driver and one passenger. They were driving north on Schuyler Street toward Oriskany Boulevard.

Utica Police officials say the female driver may have ran through stop sign. They are using surveillance video to determine if any charges will be filed.
