Service Manager accused of stealing thousands from auto dealership

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Service Manager at a Davidson's car dealership in Watertown is facing charges after authorities say he stole thousands of dollars from the business.

According to New York State Police, Lyle R. Salter, 45, of Dexter was charged on Friday, July 8 with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

Salter is alleged to have stolen approximately $22,820 from Davidson's Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC located in the Town of Watertown. While Salter was employed as a Service Manager with Davidson's between October of 2008 and July of 2011, he is alleged to have altered repair orders to conceal the theft of the aforementioned amount of money.

Salter was arraigned in the Town of Watertown Court where he was released pending grand jury action.
