Seven arrested for trespassing on the trestle bridge at Kayuta Lake

KAYUTA LAKE, N.Y. - According to Sheriff Robert Maciol of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, several individuals were arrested over the weekend by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit after they were caught trespassing on the trestle bridge at Kayuta Lake.

The trestle bridge is owned by the New York State Department of Transportation and runs over the top of Kayuta Lake and is clearly marked "No Trespassing".

The Sheriff's Office said they have received numerous complaints from the Kayuta Lake Association of individuals climbing on and jumping off of the trestle bridge, and even complaints of people urinating off of the trestle bridge and onto passing vessels.

Arrested were Chelsey N. Spann, 19, of Boonville; Brandy Lee Johnson, 32, of Port Lyden; Rebecca M. Kaufman, 17, of Forestport; Ryan E. Pole, 18, of Forestport; Dominic C. Mayo, 16, of Alder Creek; Tyler J. Connolly, 16, of Rome; and Devin M. Frye, 21,of Barneveld.

All were issued appearance tickets which are returnable to the Town of Forestport Court at a later date and time.

The Sheriff's Office stated they would like to remind everyone that the trestle bridge over Kayuta Lake is a no trespassing area, and that if anyone is found climbing on, jumping from, or crossing over the trestle without the written consent from the New York State Department of Transportation that they will be arrested.
