Police agencies respond to murder-suicide in Deerfield

DEERFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies and New York State Police responded to the scene of what they are saying was a murder-suicide at a home on Carver Street in Deerfield.

Authorities arrived on scene of 101 Carver Street shortly before 2:00 p.m. State Police said Thomas M. Anderson, of Utica was found dead in the home. Kylie Turczyn, 23, was found in the home injured and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where she later died.

State Police said that the two had both suffered bullet wounds. They say the incident had begun as a domestic and speculate that Anderson male shot Turczyn and then turned the gun on himself.

Authorities said they believe the two victims were boyfriend and girlfriend.

According to State Police, there were three other people in the home at the time, two children and another adult female, all of whom witnessed the incident. Those three were unharmed.

Authorities said the adult woman who witnessed the event was related to one of the victims, but did not immediately say how.

Family members were escorted from the scene, visibly distraught.

Police stress to people in the area that they are not in danger and that this was not a random act.

No further information was immediately available, but authorities say the investigation continues.
