Several police agencies respond to situation in City of Oneida

ONEIDA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida City Police say a situation in the 200 block of Williams Street has ended peacefully. Police responded to the area for a report of a suicidal male on Thursday night at about 7:30.

They say the man was alone in a home, intoxicated, suicidal, and had access to a shot gun and a rifle.

City Police, Madison County Sheriff's and New York State Police set up a perimeter and established communication with the man.

They say after hours of unsuccessful attempts to talk him into coming out of the house unarmed, the Madison County Emergency Response Team was requested.

The team got into the house and took the man into custody at about 3:15 a.m.

Police are not releasing his name. He was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
