CHADWICKS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A sex offender that authorities say had warrants out in three different states for failing to register has been found living in Chadwicks and taken into custody, authorities said.

Alvin Dan Riddle, 56, was arrested in Chadwicks after a brief investigation by the New Hartford Police Department and the U.S. Marshals.

According to the New Hartford Police Department, investigators received a tip that a person matching Riddle's description was using an alias and living in Chadwicks. It was discovered that Riddle had warrants in Arizona, Washington State and North Carolina for failing to register as a sex offender.

Authorities said the investigation revealed that Riddle had established residency in Chadwicks in late August 2012 and that his actions constituted a violation of the federal Adam Walsh Act, which requires sex offenders to register when leaving from one state and moving to another.

The U.S. Marshals became involved in the investigation and were able to establish the probable cause necessary to charge Riddle federally. The U.S. Marshals obtained an arrest warrant for Riddle from the U.S. Federal Court in Syracuse and the warrant was executed in the morning hours of December 18, 2012 by members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, the New Hartford Police Department, and the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

The Task Force is comprised of members of the Utica Police Department, Oneida County Probation Department, Oneida County Sheriff's Department, NY State Police, and the NY State Parole.

Investigators stated that Riddle originally was convicted in Arkansas in 1993 for Carnal Abuse of an 8 year old and has an extensive violent criminal history. The U.S. Marshals stated that Riddle is facing up to 10 years in Federal Prison.
