Sheriff: Investigation into fatal Taberg stabbing almost closed

TABERG, N.Y. (WKTV) - The investigation into who stabbed a man outside the American Legion in Taberg is almost to a close, authorities said Monday.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, investigators are wrapping up their investigation into who killed Joseph Andrewski, 26, during a stabbing in the Legion parking lot around 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 8.

Sheriff Maciol says that another person was stabbed, but that those injuries were not life-threatening. The Sheriff is not currently saying whether the second person who was stabbed is being considered a suspect in the case.

"Some of the evidence that was taken at the scene, just doing some comparisons and whatnot, obviously there was blood at the scene, it's doing some lab work," Sheriff Maciol said. "Like I said, they're completing the interviews and in the next couple of days, midweek, we should give a substantial update to the investigation."

A neighbor who lives near the American Legion told NEWSChannel 2 that a benefit was going on in a pole barn in back of the legion that day, but the sheriff won't say whether Andrewski or the other victim were a part of that benefit until the full update is released later this week.
