Sheriffs: Man drove drunk with young children in car, violated Leandra's Law

BRIDGEWATER, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Bridgewater man is facing charges after sheriffs deputies say he violated Leandra's Law, which is having young passengers in the car while driving drunk.

Leandra's Law took effect on August 15, 2010 and makes it a felony for a drunk driver to have passengers under the age of 15.

30-year-old Jack Kenyon was stopped on East Street in the Town of Bridgewater for speeding, according to the Oneida County Sheriffs Department. Authorities say he had a three-year-old and an eight-year-old in the car with him.

Kenyon was charged with two counts of aggravated driving with intoxicated with a child in a motor vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child, DWI and having a blood-alcohol-content of .08% or greater, suspended registration and speeding.

Kenyon was arraigned in the Town of Bridgewater Court and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lie of $10,000 bail.
