Sidewalk Art Show along Genesee Street to kick off summer

By WKTV News

UTICA, NY (WKTV) - The sidewalks of Genesee Street in Utica are now lined with art near the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute. It's the 2014 Arts Festival.

There is a variety of art in all shapes, sizes and mediums.

This year, more than 222 works will be presented.

There will be student art as well.

Really, the art you'll see is the best of the best.

The works have been submitted and juried already.

It's not just art, it's a way to start the summer with some fun.

Joe Schmidt of Munson Williams says, "School's out, come out and have a great time! We've got music, we've got more bands than ever."

There are 17 bands, three or four each day.

There will also be children's activities.

Inside, you'll find a special exhibit: "The Golden Age of European Painting," which is on display until Sept. 14.

The Sidewalk Art Show kicks off Friday at 10 a.m. and runs through July 2.
