FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the 21st year in a row, Frankfort-Schuyler Elementary school held a program to honor war veterans on Friday.

The kindergarten through fifth grade students were clad in red, white, and blue as they performed skits and songs in gym packed with public officials, war veterans, and active military.

In the weeks leading up to the event, students learned what it means to be a veteran and decked out their school in American flags and patriotic artwork.

"They get excited about seeing the veterans," said Fifth Grade Teacher Rob Oberlies. "They enjoy when they come to the classrooms, be able to talk to them, see what a true hero is."

The program wrapped up with a rendition of "God Bless the USA" as a final tribute to the special guests.
