Small Business Workshop held in Whitesboro

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Successful business people, a communications group, and lenders shared knowledge and advice today with local small business owners at the Small Business Resource Workshop.
Pati Drumm Grady owns Cooperstown Cookies, the only all-natural cookie licensed by the Major League Baseball Association and the Baseball Hall of Fame. After appearing on The Food Network, the demand for her cookies exploded. She came to the Small Business Resource Workshop Monday to find out information about financing cookie baking equipment. "I have found navigating through federal and state sources of funding and assistance is very daunting," says Grady. "So I wanted to see if I can make some personal relationships."
At the workshop, she was able to speak to lenders and other business people, which she says made the event worth while. "Now knowing that there are people we have access to and that there are programs to secure funding is why I came," said Grady.
Besides discussing financial matters at the workshop, small business owners also learned about the importance of using social media to expand business in the tech savvy world we live in. "You don't have to do everything. There is four square, there is Twitter, there is Facebook, there is Linked In if you are in business to business," says Joseph Romanelli, President of Romanelli Communications. "Do one of these very well and you will start to expand to some of the others."
A quick search of Cooperstown Cookies will bring up their Facebook and Twitter accounts. Romanelli says it is important for all businesses to follow in Cooperstown Cookies footsteps and be technologically accessible.
