Softball tournament raises funds for local vets

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y (WKTV) - Softball teams from here at home and out of town stepped up to the plate not only to compete, but to raise money for veterans, Saturday.
All money raised this weekend at the 14th Kid Memorial Foundation Softball Tournament goes to the Vietnam Veterans of Utica.
The tournament is in honor of Raymond P. Sinnott because Raymond Sinnott was the 14th kid in his family.
His daughter said there's a special reason to honor her father through softball.
"My father passed away five years ago and he made it to everyone of my softball games," said Tammy Sinnott, Tournament Coordinator. "So we decided to do a softball tournament that co-ed so girls would be involved as well."
The first place team takes home not only a trophy, but also $1,000 dollars.

The tournament wraps up Sunday afternoon.
