(WKTV) - The son of an elderly Blossvale woman who was found Monday evening after being reported missing Friday is now in jail, according to the Oneida City Police.
Tomas Zavalidroga, 52, is charged with falsely reporting an incident and reckless endangerment.
According to authorities, Zavalidroga allegedly reported his mother missing when he knew her whereabouts and allegedly led her into the woods and leaving there, causing her to be exposed to the elements and subjecting her to health risks.
Margaret Zavalidroga, 83, was found around 5:45 p.m. Monday in a wooded area between Lenox Avenue and Genesee Street in Oneida. She is being cared for at the Oneida hospital.
Tomas Zavalidroga reported his mother missing at 4 p.m. Friday. According to authorities, he said he left his mother in a van at a friend's property. He expected to be gone only 20 minutes, but when he returned an hour and a half later, his mother was gone.
Zavalidroga was sent to Madison County Jail in lieu of bail. Additional charges may be pending.
