St. Elizabeth College of Nursing students help Abraham House

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Students from the St. Elizabeth College of Nursing stepped out of the classroom and into the community Thursday.

It's called service-based learning. The nurses volunteered Thursday at the Abraham House, a comfort home for the terminally ill. The students assisted the staff and patients.

"We're giving baths, reading to the patients, changing their linens," said Kimberly Costello, a nursing student. "Spending time with them, just helping out the patients. Pretty much anything they need."

The students choose a community-based service each semester.
